Update on the affairs of the Dominica Police Force

Government continues in its quest to equip the Dominica Police Force to effectively fight crime on the island.

At a recent press conference, Police Chief Cyril Carrette highlighted improvements being made within the Police Force.

Police Chief Carrette stated that the Dominican populace can soon expect a newly refurbished Marigot Police Station.

“The Marigot Police Station was refurbished at a cost of two hundred and sixty thousand dollars.  A new police station costing approximately 2.3 million dollars is nearing completion.  The officers stationed at Grand Bay will soon be relocated to their new area of operation and preparations are ongoing for new police stations in Calibishie and LaPlaine.”

In addition to those developments, the Chief also spoke of the acquisition of new vehicles that will add to the efficiency of the Dominica Police Force.

He says, “During this year five vehicles were procured for the Police Department and have been assigned to various sections and stations.”

The Government has also granted approval to fill existing vacancies within the Dominica Police Force.  Carrette stated that, “this process is at an advanced stage.”

He also stated that a number of Police Officers are undergoing training in Barbados, China and the United States of America.
