Tropical Wave To Affect Dominica Later Today

A tropical wave will be affecting most of the Lesser Antilles during the next 12 to 24 hours. This is expected to support cloudy skies, scattered showers and possible thunderstorm activity across the islands during the period. People in areas prone to floods, landslides and falling rocks should be on the alert for isolated, moderate to heavy rainfall events from this afternoon. A Flood Watch or Warning may become necessary. Occasionally gusty winds will be maintained.

Saharan dust is forecast to increase overnight. People with respiratory sensitivities should take necessary precautions to avoid complications. Seas are expected to be slight to moderate during the next 24 hours, with waves peaking to 3ft along the western coastline and to 5ft along the eastern coast today.

The US National Oceanic Atmospheric  Administration, NOAA predicts an above-normal 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, forecasting 13 to 19 named storms, 6 to 10 hurricanes, and 3 to 5 major hurricanes. NOAA anticipates a 60% chance of an above-normal season, a 30% chance of a near-normal season, and only a 10% chance of a below-normal season. NOAA emphasizes the importance of preparedness as the hurricane season approaches.

Residents in hurricane-prone areas are encouraged to make plans and gather supplies in advance to ensure safety during potential storms.
