The Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investment continues its fight against covid-19 across the island through a vaccination outreach program.
On a visit to Soufriere, GIS met with Communications Officer in the Covid-19 Vaccination Unit Ms. Vernella Orle who says the ministry decided to bring the campaign to the people in order to generate even more access to the vaccine in small communities.
Ms. Orle went on to encourage citizens to support these campaigns and adhere to health protocols set out by the health authorities.
“We’re at Soufriere at the Catholic Church Hall and we are having a vaccination drive and we are encouraging people to get vaccinated. We understand the importance of getting vaccinated along with all the other health protocols. So what we decided to do as part of the vaccination campaign is bringing the vaccines to the community as opposed to allowing persons to only access vaccinations at the health centres. The turnout has been good and we want to encourage persosn to go the different sites and get vaccinated,” Ms. Orle stated.
The drive continued on September 17, 2021, at the Roseau River Promenade.
