Parliamentary Representative for the Roseau Valley Constituency, Honourable Dr. Irving McIntyre has called on citizens to defend the Citizenship By Investment Programme (CBI Dominica).
Dr. McIntyre says residents should appreciate the efforts made under the housing revolution programme that is fully funded by CBI.
He made these remarks whilst speaking at a handing over ceremony for houses in Cochrane.
“But where does your Labour Party led Government get this money? It’s from the CBI programme. This is why you have to defend and protect our CBI programme. Today the CBI funds is providing houses for you and tomorrow it will continue to provide housing for others. There are many areas in which the CBI funds are being used. In my Ministry in particular, all the many health centres that you are seeing, the Marigot hospital, the housing projects, the schools, the five star hotels, these are all because of the CBI programme. So we all have to take responsibility and defend our CBI programme,” Dr. McIntyre stated.
CBI Dominica has funded many capital projects which play a significant part in Dominica’s economic growth. Despite the economic challenges posed on the world stand by the global covid-19 pandemic much national development projects continue to move at a steady pace with the support of the Citizenship By Investment Programme.
An excellent reputation of the programme is also seen as the Commonwealth of Dominica maintained its first rank for four consecutive years as the country offering the best Citizenship By Investment Programme. This was according to the 2020 CBI Index published by Financial Times, Professional Wealth Management Magazine on September 8 2020.
The Citizenship By Investment Programme was established in 1993 and aims to boost foreign economic contributions to Dominica, in order to expand its economy and meet the demands of the modern competitive global market.
The international airport, the largest infrastructural project in Dominica is also being funded by this programme.
