Sites have been identified for the construction of apartments in Roseau.
The disclosure came from Prime Minister of Dominica, Honorable Roosevelt Skerrit during a site visit.
Prime Minister Skerrit said that work should have already commenced but was held back because of the ongoing covid-19 pandemic.
“We have also visited the Roseau Central and there are three sites that have been identified. One site has already been fully handed over to the developer. Work should have already started but was held up due to the coronavirus. We expect a large consignment of materials to come in and once this materials come in we will see a real visible impact of the construction of these residences in Roseau,” THE Prime Minister stated.
Prime Minister Skerrit also explained that shops will be built with these apartment buildings to assist small business owners.
“And the second site that will be handed over is the Pound area where we will also be building some residences and shops on the ground floor. This is to enhance housing and to enhance access to small business in terms of rent and space and to make their businesses more viable. So we are killing many birds with one stone so to speak, and so we look forward to not only the start of this construction but the completion of them, and we are starting and we are grateful for that,” Prime Minister Skerrit added.
