Prequalification Penville Multi-Purpose Facility

THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PENVILLE MULTI-PURPOSE FACILITY IS SCHEDULED FOR IMPLEMENTATION UNDER THE CARIBBEAN DEVELOPMENT BANK (CDB) AND GOVERNMENT OF DOMINICA BASIC NEEDS TRUST FUND PROJECT (BNTF-6).

INTERESTED AND COMPETENT CONTRACTORS ARE ASKED TO PRE-QUALIFY IN ORDER TO BE INVITED TO TENDER FOR UNDERTAKING THE SAID WORKS.

Fulbright and Hubert Humphrey Scholarships NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

Scholarships for citizens of the Eastern Caribbean
Applicants for the following four scholarships must be citizens of and live in one of the countries to which the United States Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean is accredited: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Fulbright Faculty Development Scholarship deadline is May 31, 2014
The Fulbright Faculty Development program offers opportunities for community college and university faculty from abroad to engage in graduate study at U.S. universities. Applicants must be nominated by their Eastern Caribbean college or university. Apply online.
Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship deadline is July 1, 2014
The Fulbright Foreign Student program enables graduate students, young professionals, and artists from abroad to research and study in the United States for one year or longer at U.S. universities or other appropriate institutions. Apply online.
Hubert Humphrey Scholarship deadline is July 1, 2014
The Hubert Humphrey program brings outstanding mid-career professionals from the developing world and societies in transition to the United States for one year. Fellows participate in a non-degree program of academic study and gain professional study professional experience. Apply  online.
Fulbright NEXUS Scholarship - deadline is March 1, 2014
The Fulbright Regional Network for Applied Research (NEXUS) program is a network of junior scholars, professionals and mid-career applied researchers from the United States and other Western Hemisphere nations participating in a program that includes multi-disciplinary, team-based research, a series of three seminar meetings, and a two to three-month research exchange visit to the United States. Standardized Testing
Most Fulbright applicants will be required to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). For further information on the GRE go the GRE website.
Those applicants who are applying for a Fulbright scholarship in order to be admitted to an MBA program will need to write the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). For further information please visit the GRE website.
Accreditation
Your desired graduate institution of choice must be accredited. Please review the U.S. Department of Education ’s  Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs.


Foreign Residency Requirement
When you participate in a Fulbright program, you will be subject to the two-year, home-country foreign residency requirement. You must return to your home country for a cumulative total of two years at the end of your Fulbright program. You are not prohibited from travelling to the United States but may not benefit from certain employment-based or family based visas until the foreign residency requirement is satisfied.

Scholarships for Citizens of the United States
The following two programs are available to the citizens of the United States who are interested in pursuing academic work in the Eastern Caribbean
Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offered annually
The Fulbright U.S Scholar program offers opportunities for American scholars, artists and professionals to conduct research, lecture, and/or consult with other scholars and institutions abroad. The program sends approximately 80 American scholars and professionals per year to approximately 130 countries, where they lecture and/or conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields. Fulbright American Specialists rolling deadline
The Fulbright Specialists program sends U.S. faculty and professionals abroad to serve as expert consultants on curriculum, faculty development, institutional planning, and related subjects at academic institutions abroad for periods of 2 to 6 weeks. 2014 Fulbright NEXUS Scholarship Call for applications

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Bridgetown, Barbados is now accepting applications for the Fulbright Regional Network for Applied Research (NEXUS) Scholarship.

Program Themes: Scholars will focus exclusively on collaborative work in multidisciplinary research teams. Climate Change and Adaptation Strategies will remain NEXUS’ thematic focus and scholars should propose to work in research teams in one of the five areas (applicants may select up to three areas at the time of application):
· Renewable Energy, including Micro-Grid Innovations;
· Social and Behavioral Adaptation to Climate Change;
· Measuring Climate Change and its Impact (Metrics and Standards);
· Climate Change and Biodiversity;
· Climate Change and Food and Water Security
Grant Length: The grant is expected to support activity from June 2014 through May 2016 and will include a 2-3 month research exchange visit to the U.S. and travel to three group seminar meetings.  Online collaboration will begin as early as June 2014 in advance of the first meeting and orientation in Brazil in August 2014.  The research visit and participation at all three group meetings are mandatory.  Scholars will also be expected to maintain ongoing virtual communication among the multinational and multidisciplinary participants under the guidance of the Fulbright NEXUS Lead Scholars.
Affiliation: A letter of invitation from a U.S. institution is not required at the time of application.  NEXUS Lead Scholars and CIES can assist in securing an affiliation, however, the applicant may identify two or three prospective host institutions and include appropriate contact information as needed in the application.  The Council for the International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) will finalize all affiliations prior to the issuance of the DS-2019 (application for an exchange visitor’s visa)  Important: Applicants without a pre-arranged affiliation should expect to start their grants no earlier than Sept. 1, 2014 to allow CIES sufficient time to help arrange an affiliation.
We will review applications for the quality of the research proposal, clarity of research design and methodology, significance of research to program themes and to this region, the applicant’s ability to undertake the project (training, research skills and publication record, ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, team setting, etc.)
