-               Competent administrative and management skills

The Assistant CLO will work closely with the CLO for the active involvement of communities in the identification, formulation and implementation of all sub-projects – with special emphasis on monitoring and evaluation.    The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has secured financing from the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) to fund the first two (2) years of the operationalization of the Multi-Purpose Packhouses in Roseau and Portsmouth.

The Dominica Export Import Agency (DEXIA) is the Executing Agency for the Project and hereby seeks suitably qualified persons to fill the following position:

     QUALITY FOOD SAFETY OFFICERS (ROSEAU / PORTSMOUTH)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

1. To ensure that all pertinent facts about fresh agricultural produce being inspected are determined and

stated accurately.

1. To follow all inspection instructions and procedures as laid out in the Fresh Produce Quality Control Act and to use sound judgment in the execution of the functions.

1. To be familiar with the contents of the Fresh Produce Quality Control Act and any other Quality Standards and to conform to the procedures at the Packhouses.

1. To ensure that the quality control procedures at the Packhouses conform to international best practices.

1. To serve as Internal Auditor of the Quality Control System at the Multi-Purpose Packhouses.

1. To work collaboratively with other relevant national regulatory agencies: Bureau of Standards, Customs and Excise, Environmental Health Department and/or relevant Government Ministries in the execution of your functions.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

Candidates should possess the following:

1. A recognized university degree in Agriculture, Agri-Business or any combination of courses in which the

major is Quality Assurance or Food Safety; and/or equivalent professional qualification.

1.  Demonstrated experience in Food Safety and Inspection Practices.
2. Experience in Agricultural Extension would be an added advantage
3. Excellent oral communication and strong report writing skills
4. Ownership of a vehicle would be an asset

PLANT SUPERVISOR – MULTI-PURPOSE PACKHOUSE (ROSEAU / PORTSMOUTH)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

1. To operate processing equipment and machinery at the Multi-Purpose Packhouse.

1. Be responsible for processing fruits on behalf of farmers, hucksters and other exporters using machinery at the Packhouse.

1. Be responsible for building of cartons for all processed products for exports.

1. To be responsible for the maintainance of the facility, ensuring that the facility is thoroughly cleaned immediately after processing of shipments and that the surrounding grounds are maintained regularly.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

Candidates should possess the following:

1. Completion of two (2) year Programme in Agriculture or Mechanical Engineering or any related field from the Dominica State College or a similar type institution.

1. Work experience in a similar type operation would be an added advantage.

            c)   A valid driver’s license and police record.
