The Ministry of Lands, Housing, Settlements and Water Resource Management invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Engineer.
Duties:
The Engineer will be directly responsible to the Housing Manager for the proper performance of his/her duties. The core functions of the position include:
Undertake the preparation of designs for housing construction programmes;
Prepares country-wide assessments for maintenance and repairs to houses in order to facilitate the preparation of work schedules;
Provides input in the formulation of housing policies;
Prepares estimates for engineering works for the site infrastructure such as retaining walls, roads, drains and sewage systems;
Supervise the housing construction and repairs in order to ensure proper execution of works and cost control; and
Performs other related activities to keep supervisor informed of overall conditions of housing stock in the country.
Qualifications, Experience And Skills Required:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or in any other related field from an accredited university.
A minimum of three (3) years professional experience.
Experience and knowledge of programme planning and project management.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in applying engineering principles, preparing remedial measures and cost estimates.
Experience in the preparation of comprehensive reports.
The successful applicant will be employed on a contractual basis for a period of two (2) years in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal upon satisfactory performance.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience.
