Vacancy Notice: Engineer

The Ministry of Lands, Housing, Settlements and Water Resource Management invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Engineer.

Duties:

The Engineer will be directly responsible to the Housing Manager for the proper performance of his/her duties.  The core functions of the position include:

• Undertake the preparation of designs for housing construction programmes;
• Prepares country-wide assessments for maintenance and repairs to houses in order to facilitate the preparation of work schedules;
• Provides input in the formulation of housing policies;
• Prepares estimates for engineering works for the site infrastructure such as retaining walls, roads, drains and sewage systems;
• Supervise the housing construction and repairs in order to ensure proper execution of works and cost control; and
• Performs other related activities to keep supervisor informed of overall conditions of housing stock in the country.

Qualifications, Experience And Skills Required:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or in any other related field from an accredited university.
• A minimum of three (3) years professional experience.
• Experience and knowledge of programme planning and project management.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in applying engineering principles, preparing remedial measures and cost estimates.
• Experience in the preparation of comprehensive reports.

The successful applicant will be employed on a contractual basis for a period of two (2) years in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal upon satisfactory performance.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience.
