VACANCY: Multi-purpose Packhouse Market Extension/Supply Chain Officer

 EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

     The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica has secured financing from the CARICOM Development Fund         

    (CDF) to fund the first two (2) years of the operationalization of the Multi-Purpose Packhouses in Roseau and

    Portsmouth.

    The Dominica Export Import Agency (DEXIA) is the Executing Agency for the Project and hereby seeks suitably

    qualified persons to fill the following position:

 MARKET EXTENSION /  SUPPLY CHAIN OFFICER (ROSEAU / PORTSMOUTH)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

1. To develop and manage all contractual arrangements with farmers, farmer organizations, hucksters and fresh produce exporters

b) To coordinate activities within the supply chain from the farm to the market

1. To manage all commercial arrangements from sourcing of produce to the actual processing at the Multi-Purpose Packhouse

1. To provide integrated technical assistance for the development of all commercial crops for export;

1. To provide production information on all major crops of export significance and to prepare reports accordingly on the status and availability of crops for export

1. To assist in the delivery of specific training programmes to farmers, farmer organization, hucksters and exporters.

1. To ensure that production and supply of produce are commensurate with marketing requirements.

1. To undertake the supervision of produce for export and to supervise when necessary processing operations at the Collection Centers and Packhouses.

1. To identify persons who can produce to meet export requirements and to organize for the collection and delivery of produce for export on a timely basis.

1. To coordinate and assist, where necessary, in the provision of technical assistance and training to farmers, farmer organizations, hucksters and exporters.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

Candidates should possess the following:

1. A recognized university degree in Agriculture or any combination of subjects in which Crop Production is the major and/or equivalent professional qualification.

1. Demonstrated experience in contractual production and supply chain logistics.

1. Experience in Agricultural Extension would be an added advantage.

1. Excellent oral communication and strong report writing skills required

1. Ownership of a vehicle would be an asset.
