VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Ministry of Information, Telecommunications and Constituency Empowerment invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of INFORMATION Officer, at the Government Information Service.

 

Duties:

The Information Officer will be directly responsible to the Senior Information Officer.  The core functions of the position include:

 

  • Collecting information from various Government Ministries/Departments to keep the public informed of important current events
  • Preparing radio/television programmes in both English and local dialect
  • Producing and publishing Government Information Service (GIS) Magazine to inform the public of government of government policies, developments, operations and programmes
  • Supervising subordinate staff
  • Assisting with the removing of still photograph, video camera operation and editing of television programmes
  • Preparing and editing releases and television news

Qualifications, Experience And Skills Required:

 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Mass Communications or in any other related field from an accredited University.
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience.
  • Experience in carrying out research
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to correctly interpret and reproduce ideas expressed in conversation and written form
  • Ability to speak the Creole language

The position is on the permanent establishment and salary will be paid at the rate of $2897.51 per month, in the scale 12 – 6.
