Online collaboration will begin as early as June 2014 in advance of the first meeting and orientation in Brazil in August 2014. NEXUS Lead Scholars and CIES can assist in securing an affiliation, however, the applicant may identify two or three prospective host institutions and include appropriate contact information as needed in the application. The Council for the International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) will finalize all affiliations prior to the issuance of the DS-2019 (application for an exchange visitor’s visa) Important: Applicants without a pre-arranged affiliation should expect to start their grants no earlier than Sept. 1, 2014 to allow CIES sufficient time to help arrange an affiliation.
We will review applications for the quality of the research proposal, clarity of research design and methodology, significance of research to program themes and to this region, the applicant’s ability to undertake the project (training, research skills and publication record, ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, team setting, etc.)
