A second visit from the Minister of Tourism from Saudi Arabia has resulted in a commitment to assist Government with the Roseau Enhancement Project.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and other officials met with the Saudi Arabian officials recently.

Prime Minister Skerrit stated that discussions relating to the funding of the project were held and another team will be visiting Dominica to continue these discussions.

“One matter which came up for discussion was the collaboration with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to advance the Roseau Enhancement Project. We have held discussions with the Saudi Government about the funding of this project and a follow up team will be in Dominica within weeks to advance those discussions. We certainly look forward to this as the Roseau enhancement project is of national priority,” he stated.

The strengthening of relations and partnership in other important sectors were also discussed at the meeting.

“Our discussions with the Saudi’s also touched on building strategic relationships in culture, infrastructure, agriculture and tourism. In fact an offer is on the table to share expertise with Dominica’s ministry of tourism on tourism marketing and development strategies. A team will be visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia very soon so that we can learn from the wonderful work that they are doing where tourism is concerned, both public and private sector entities will participate,” PM Skerrit added.

The Roseau Enhancement Project was designed to transform the city of Roseau into a modern and more attractive city.  It will include the restoration of roads and bridges, the building of sidewalks and the enhancement of lighting in the city.
