Melena Fontaine has been appointed to act as Dominica’s Chief Education Officer.
Her appointment took effect on Friday July 05th 2013.
The acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Of Education and Human Resource Development, Chandler Hyacinth, made the announcement last week.
According to a release from the Ministry of Education, Fontaine takes over from Stephenson Hyacinth, who served in the position for 12 years and is now the Permanent Secretary (Ag) In the Ministry of National Security, Immigration and Labour.
Melena Fontaine served previously as Coordinator for Special Education and focal point for the Child Friendly School’s Initiative.
She holds a Bachelor in Education Degree from the University of the West Indies and a Master in Education Degree from the University of Massachusetts –Amherst Massachusetts.
She is currently a PhD candidate with the University of Massachusetts.
