Parliamentary Representative for the Grand Bay Constituency, Hon. Justina Charles makes a plea to her community and the country at large.
She recently appealed to Dominicans to act in a manner so as to allow the most vulnerable amongst them to receive school assistance from Government. She warned against being selfish as there are many individuals who genuinely need assistance.
“For those of you here and in all the other parts of Dominica, Government spends money in assisting the deprived or less fortunate among us with uniforms and school books… and I say less fortunate because all of us cannot get assistance, we must be aware of that. Among us sitting here are some who are less privileged while some of us can afford to buy school books or pay the schools fees but there are those who cannot. And so we must be happy when Government may leave you aside for now and consider those among you who cannot meet those expenses.”
Mrs. Charles concluded her remarks by saying that government will continue to provide school transfer grants to less fortunate parents to assist their children in accessing secondary school education.
All of this is part of Government’s no child left behind policy. Over the past number of years, the Government of Dominica has worked tirelessly to ensure that all children of school age receive quality education.
The Government of Dominica has also sought to review early childhood education years because it strongly believes that from ages 0-5 are the most impressionable years upon a child and has gone a step further to create environments conducive to their learning.
