President of Dominica, His Excellency Charles Savarin received the letter of credence to Jamaica’s new High Commissioner to Dominica, His Excellency Arthur H.W Williams. The virtual presentation of credentials took place on Friday, May 6 at the State House.
President Savarin welcomed His Excellency Williams and extended congratulatory remarks to his country for an outstanding performance of its athletes at the recently concluded CARIFTA games.
“Today I am pleased to receive Your Excellency’s letter of credence issued by His Excellency, the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen accrediting you the position of High Commissioner of Jamaica to the Commonwealth of Dominica with residence in China. I am further pleased to acknowledge receipt of the letter of recall of your predecessor. I would also like to take this opportunity to extend congratulations to your country for the outstanding and stunning performance of these athletes at the recently concluded 49th edition of the CARIFTA Games. The regional and international showmanship and excellence of Jamaica’s track and field athletes serve as an inspiration for the Caribbean islands including Dominica to boost their national sporting agenda,” H.E Savarin stated.
His Excellency Williams is confident that through collective efforts and commitment, the relation between these two countries will move to new heights.
“I am pleased Your Excellency to be able to present my credentials to you today albeit virtually. Your Excellency since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries we have maintained strong relations at the bilateral, regional and multi-lateral levels. Our enduring friendship and strong people to people linkages are grounded in our history, our shared values and our culture. I wish to reiterate Jamaica’s commitment to the further deepening of our integration process and the strengthening of the mutually beneficial partnership for the development of our countries and the region and for the betterment of the lives of our people,” His Excellency Williams stated.
The Government of Dominica and Jamaica established diplomatic relations in 1978. Since establishing diplomatic ties with Jamaica, the Government and people of Dominica have enjoyed a healthy and stable relationship. Jamaica has supported Dominica through relief donation of two bailey bridges and over fifty million dollars’ worth of bridge infrastructure and material, just to name a few.
