Minister for Trade, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Business and Export Development, Honourable Ian Douglas says Government continues to secure markets for Dominica’s local produce and agro processing goods.
“We also explore nontraditional markets for our fresh and agro processed goods so as to expand our market share, foreign exchange and increase employment opportunities in favor of our citizens inclusive of farmers, exporters, hucksters and shippers. In all this quest for expansion of markets, we are doing what is necessary to ensure that these products and services are of international standards and both in quality and food safety,” Minister Douglas stated.
Minister Douglas encouraged all citizens to support local products which in turn will stimulate the local economy.
“I call on all of us as a people to take advantage of the many local manufactured products available on island, to provide someone with a gift basket of locally manufactured goods, showing your love and care for someone. Many of our local products are available at our supermarkets and at the Old Market Square. My Ministry works collaboratively with key manufactures to ensure that we have locally manufactured products available for sale on island. Even among our CARICOM member states, we negotiate strongly to ensure a level playing field between the less developed member states and the more developed member states of CARICOM,” the Trade Minister explained.
