H.E Edita Hrda is the new ambassador of the Czech Republic to Dominica.
The diplomat presented her letters of credence to Dominica’s Head of State H.E Dr. Nicholas J. O. Liverpool on Wednesday.
“The Czech Republic has long standing relations with Caribbean countries. Dominica is a very important player in the international organization. I can attest to that because I am cooperating closely with Caribbean Ambassadors especially with Dominica’s Ambassador in United Nations as I am a permanent representative there.”
The new Ambassador stated that the Czech Republic is also a member of the European Union. She says, “This means we participate in all matters relating to the Caribbean. “
President of Dominica H.E. Dr Nicholas Liverpool is looking forward to improved relations between Dominica and the Czech Republic.
“Since the formalizing of relations between our countries in 1996, the ties have been cordial though limited in scope. It is my sincere hope that your appointment as Ambassador will usher in and activate a new spirit of bilateral cooperation between our two countries.”
The President affirmed that Dominica intends to explore avenues of increased cooperation that are traditionally provided by the Czech Republic.
He says, “Together we can work towards establishing and maintaining our trade and investment opportunities and cooperate effectively to deepen our economic and social ties.”
The President then commended the Government of the Czech Republic for supporting the Millennium Development Goals which are geared at eradicating extreme poverty, its causes and consequences.
He stated that, Dominica’s cooperation with the Czech Republic in the international arena can be counted upon.
“We look forward to providing continued support for the candidacy of the Czech Republic on various international bodies in appropriate circumstances.”
