Mrs. Melissa Skerrit presents scholarship and school supplies to DSC student

Twenty-Five Students of the Dominica State College have been awarded scholarships from the Melissa Skerrit Foundation. The scholarships along with school supplies, were handed out at a ceremony on Thursday October  4th, 2018.Caretaker for the Roseau North Constituency Hon Miriam Blanchard was especially pleased that some of the recipients were from her constituency.

“I am particularly delighted,” said Hon. Blanchard, “Today, a total of seven students from neighbouring communities in the Roseau North Constituency will benefit from the generosity of the Melissa Skerrit Foundation.”

Senator Blanchard congratulated the students and encouraged them to study so that they could enjoy the rewards of their success.

Founder of the Melissa Skerrit foundation, Melissa Skerrit said, “the back to school program is dedicated to providing those in need of school supplies and funds necessary to be successful in the classroom.” She commended the CEO of Montreal Management Consultants (MMC) for making the provision of the scholarships possible for the students.

Mrs. Skerrit told the students “Our friends at MMC do not view this sponsorship as simply providing necessary tools for education, they understand that they are also holding your hands for a journey to reach your true potential”. 

MMC has been a continuous benefactor of the Melissa Skerrit Foundation’s annual “Back to school feeding program” which will be launched at the Goodwill Primary and Roseau Primary Schools next week. Established in December 2016, The Melissa Skerrit Foundation aims to transform the lives of disadvantaged persons in society.
