The Hon Member of Parliament for the Castle Bruce Constituency, Johnson Drigo is pleased that the people of Castle Bruce can finally have a new bridge in the Senhouse area.
A contract in the amount of $167,243 was signed between Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Works, Denise Edwards and Contractor, Victor Roberts on Wednesday August 16.
The old Senhouse bridge was built more than 55 years ago and serves at least 30% of the Castle Bruce population.
“We have lived with the Senhouse bridge being covered and damaged everytime it rains for the last fifty-five years,” he said.
Hon Drigo says the community has been anticipating the construction of the bridge for some time now, but other areas in the constituency needing urgent attention had to be given priority.
“The Senhouse bridge would not be constructed until we are satisfied that we have made the Good Hope San Sauver petite Soufriere area much safer.”
The Castle Bruce MP says he plans to meet with constituents next week to discuss the inconveniences that will be posed by the construction of the bridge.
The new Senhouse bridge is expected to be completed in four months.
