Over half a million dollars was presented to local authorities in the communities of Layou and St. Joseph on Monday morning as the Hon Member of Parliament for the St. Joseph constituency kept true to promises made during recent townhall meetings in these communities.

The Layou Improvement Committee and the St. Joseph Village Council have together received the funds for home renovation and the construction of washroom facilities for constituents.

“In the community of St. Joseph, 18 washrooms will be constructed and nine individuals will receive housing assistance and a complete house will be constructed for one individual…and the St. Joseph Village Council will be receiving an amount of $330,000 that will go towards the housing and sanitation needs of the residents in the community of St. Joseph.  In the community of Layou, nine washrooms will be constructed and twelve individuals will receive housing assistance. The Layou Improvement Committee will receive a cheque of $198,000 that will undertake the washroom and housing needs of the beneficiaries of this programme,” Hon Darroux informed.

Both community based organisations expressed their gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries.
