The Cottage constituency is looking forward to receiving reliable potable water thanks to the continuation of the West Coast water supply project under the Disaster Risk Vulnerability Project (DVRP).
Plans are currently being finalized to sign the contract for work to commence on the construction of three water tanks, in Grange, Cottage and Savanne Paille.
The Hon Member Of Parliament for the Cottage constituency, Reginald Austrie spoke about the project when GIS visited his constituency last week.
He says work will commence on these tanks very soon in February.
“This is going to very critical because this will meet the supply of water to that part of Portsmouth,” he said. The people in that area have had inadequate supply of water since the expansion of Portsmouth to these areas.
When the tanks are complete the entire area of Portsmouth will have improved water supply.
Mayor of the town of Portsmouth, His Lordship Titus Francis welcomes the project which he says is due to be completed by the end of 2017.
The construction of the three water tanks in the Cottage constituency will cost EC$1.4M.
