The President’s Charities Foundation made a presentation of cash donations following the 12th annual fundraising dinner earlier this year.
With the help of corporate citizens, the foundation has been able to achieve a surplus of E.C $55,635 which will assist in continuing the charitable works to the sixteen charities that fall under the foundation’s portfolio.
Representatives from the various charities received $14,250 each.
The charities represented include the Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities, the Dominica Council on Ageing, House of Hope, R.E.A.C.H, Roving Caregivers, St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Jerome’s ministry and the Social Centre.
H.E. the President Charles Savarin also revealed plans for a new foundation.
“As a result of the passage of Tropical Storm Erika, the President’s Charities Foundation has decided to do something special other than reaching out to the charities which it supports on an annual basis. A President’s Charities Foundation Erika relief fund has been set up to raise funds to assist residents of Coulibistrie and Colihaut,” added H.E. Charles Savarin.
The next event to look forward from the foundation is its annual children’s christmas party which will cater to 280 children from villages of Colihaut, Coulibistrie, Petite Savanne and Dubique at the state house grounds.
