The MV Mein Schiff 3 of Touristik Union International (TUI) cruses made its inaugural call to Dominica on November 10th, 2015 at the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth.
This was the first of its 11 calls to Dominica for the 2015/2016 cruise season.
Colin Piper is Chief Executive Officer of the Discover Dominica Authority and Director of Tourism.
“Your business is our business as well and it’s a great part of the economy of Dominica so we have a number of people employed to service your guests…so we expect that there will eb great reports when they come back.”
The Mein Schiff 3 is TUI Lines’ first vessel built for energy efficiency. It features environmentally-friendly power plants that reduce emissions by 30% in comparison to other vessels of similar size.
It has a passenger capacity of 2506 and 100 crew members.
CEO of the Dominica Air and Sea Port Authority, Benoit Bardouille noted the importance of the cruise season following the impact of TS Erika.
“We have everything that you can ask for from the natural environment and we are coming with everything. Your ship signals to us that indeed you are very supportive of our efforts to rebuild the industry and we want to compliment TUI for ensuring that the ship continues to call here.”
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Gerard Jean-Jacques remarked that the crew and passengers will find Dominica unlike any other island.
From Dominica, the MV Mein Schiff 3 sails to Guadeloupe, Antigua, St Maarten and the Dominican Republic.
