The CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin Larocque is lending support to the Commonwealth of Dominica in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Erika.
Ambassador Larocque who arrived in Dominica on Thursday September 3rd is doing his part to mobilize both region and international support to assist in the recovery efforts
“Many of our regional institutions are stepping forward; CDEMA (Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency) was one of the first on the ground... Three medical persons came in from CARPHA (Caribbean Public Health Agency) including an epidemiologist requested by the Ministry of Health,” he said. “There has been a tremendous outpouring.”
The Ambassador conveyed that the Government of Guyana will send a consignment of rice. They have also indicated that military personnel will be sent if needed.
