The Hon. Prime Minister who is also Minister for Finance has announced that charges have been waived for relief aid entering Dominica’s ports.
On Tuesday September 1st, Prime Minister Skerrit said that once the aid is consigned to the State or to individual persons or organizations, the port fees would be waived.
“The Customs has been facilitating the entry and clearance of all items for relief purposes. One does not expect you to send a flat screen TV and expect it to be duty-free. Once it is food items, toiletries, clothing… for family and friends, Red Cross, village councils, local authorities…, it will not fetch any duties,” Hon Skerrit said.
