The Ministry of Education is commending teachers for the success rate of students during the 2015 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams.
Chief Education Officer, Melena Fontaine says the training of teachers had an important role to play in the student’s success.
“For the past year, we have done a lot of training. We had National Professional Development Days during which time we brought teaches together at a national level but besides that we did a lot of school-based trainings. Our officers and other resource people went into the schools and worked with the teachers.
“I think that had the biggest impact because we examined the information at hand, one of the things which we realized is that some of our teachers didn’t have the content and the methodology so we made sure that we concentrated on those areas,” she said.
