Government continues to negotiate wage and salary increases for three Public Sector Representative Bodies for the period 2009/2012. This is in keeping with Part IV of the Public Service Act of the Revised Laws of the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Following discussions on compensation benefits for public servants for the 2009 /2012 triennium, negotiations for the first year had already been finalized with the Dominica Public Service Union, Police Welfare Association and the Dominica Association of Teachers.
Government had initially proposed a wage and salary increase of 2% for the year 2009- 2010, however, approval was granted for a 3% increase in wage and salaries, increase in allowances as well as other benefits such as duty-free concessions, Education assistance and contributions towards the unions’ Health and Wellness Programme.
According to an official statement from the Chief Personnel Officer, Irma Edwards, Government is awaiting the outcome of a Human Resource Consultancy and Job Evaluation and Classification Exercise before continuing negotiations for the periods 2010 / 2011 and 2011 / 2012.
