SPORTS DIVISION TO START 2019/2020 SCHOOL SPORTS PROGRAMME

The Sports Division in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports & Constituency Empowerment is pleased to inform the public of the commencement of its Sports Programme for the Academic year 2019/2020. The annual Sports calendar runs from September to July and commences with the Secondary Schools Football Championship.

On Friday September 27, 2019 we will kick off with the U-15, U-17 and U-20 categories of the football Championships. The opening will take the format of a double header of the Windsor Park Sports Stadium from     2:00 pm between the Pierre Charles Secondary School and the combined Dominica Community High School/ Orion Academy followed by the Castle Bruce Secondary School vs. Dominica Grammar School. A third match marking the opening will take place at the Dublanc playing field between the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School and Goodwill Secondary School. All of these matches will be in the U-17 division.

• Eight Teams will compete in two zones in the U-15 category.
• Nine Teams will compete in two zones in the U-17 category.
• Seven Teams will compete in a Round Robin format in the U-20 category.

The defending champions in each division are as follows:

U-15- Portsmouth Secondary School

U-17-St.Mary’s Academy

U-20- Portsmouth Secondary School
